Screen recording
Turn your screen into searchable memory. LUCI reads what is on screen locally, then you can recall it later in plain English.
A screen recording in LUCI is not a video file you scrub by hand. LUCI reads and understands what is on screen, locally, and folds it into the same memory as your meetings.
Turn it on
- Install LUCI and grant screen recording permission.
- Enable screen memory in the app.
- Leave LUCI running while you work.
What you see (the editor, the browser, the spreadsheet, the error in a terminal) becomes something you can ask about later.
What you get
- A timeline of your work on this computer
- Search by the words that were on screen, or by what you mean
- Meetings and screen in one memory, so "what did we decide while looking at that deck?" has an answer
This is the local alternative to tools like Rewind (shut down December 2025) and Microsoft Recall, with meetings included and no Copilot+ PC requirement.
What it is not
- Not a highlight-reel editor. If you need polished demo videos, that is a different product.
- Not an always-on OS feature you cannot turn off. You choose to run LUCI and you choose the permissions.
- Not a cloud archive. What was on screen stays on this computer.
Storage
Recordings and memory live in a folder on this computer. See Privacy and What gets captured.
