Permissions
Grant screen recording and microphone access so LUCI can capture meetings and build screen memory on your device. Steps for macOS and Windows.
LUCI only captures what the operating system allows. First launch walks you through the prompts. You can change them later in system settings.
What LUCI asks for
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Screen recording | Builds screen memory and sees what was on screen during a meeting |
| Microphone | Captures your side of meetings and calls |
For meetings, you want both. Microphone alone misses what other people said through the speakers. Screen alone misses the words.
LUCI does not need calendar access. It does not join Zoom, Meet, or Teams as a participant.
macOS
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security:
- Screen Recording. Turn LUCI on. You may need to quit and reopen the app.
- Microphone. Turn LUCI on.
If a meeting has no sound from the other side, confirm LUCI is allowed to capture the screen and that the call is playing through this Mac (not only a headset routed somewhere else).
Windows
When Windows or LUCI asks for microphone or screen access, allow it. You can review later under Settings → Privacy & security:
- Microphone
- Camera is not required for meeting notes or screen memory
- App permissions for desktop apps, if your organization locks them down
If nothing is being captured, quit LUCI from the tray and reopen it after changing a permission.
What LUCI does not ask for
- Calendar
- Your password manager
- Access to other people's machines
- A bot in the meeting
Cards, keys, and passwords are blacked out before anything is saved. See Privacy.
