Install skills

Skills teach your coding agent when and how to use LUCI. Two skills ship together:

• luci — search what you previously saw, read, did, or worked on
• distill — distill each finished day into a daily record in your Life folder

From LUCI

On the Install and try step, or later in Settings → Agent access:

1. LUCI lists Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex. An agent already on this computer is selectable. One that is not installed here shows Not detected.
2. Tick the agents you want, then click Install.

LUCI writes both skills into that agent's skills folder:

Each skill is its own folder: luci and distill-my-life.

If a folder with one of those names is already there and LUCI did not write it, LUCI leaves that folder as it is. The other skill still installs. To let LUCI install that one, move or rename the existing folder, then click Install again.

If an agent is not detected, install that agent first, then come back.

Gemini, GitHub Copilot, and Windsurf are not written from the app. Use the repo below.

The same two skills live in Memories-ai-labs/Luci-skills. Use this when you want the plugin, an editable copy, or an agent LUCI does not list.

Claude Code

claude plugin marketplace add Memories-ai-labs/Luci-skills
claude plugin install luci-skills

Or, from inside a session:

/plugin marketplace add Memories-ai-labs/Luci-skills
/plugin install luci-skills
/reload-plugins

Then run /luci:luci or /luci:distill-my-life.

Cursor, Codex, Gemini, Copilot, Windsurf, and others

npx skills add Memories-ai-labs/Luci-skills

Or install globally, for every project:

npx skills add Memories-ai-labs/Luci-skills -g

Pick which coding agents to install it on. Files land as ordinary files you own. Pull later changes with npx skills update.

After they are in

• Ask what you were just looking at — luci
• Say "distill" or "distill my life" — distill

Your agent writes your Life. LUCI remembers the memory underneath.

Optional: MCP instead

If an agent cannot load skills, connect it over MCP. Skills are still the recommended path.
