Connect OpenClaw

Add LUCI to OpenClaw over MCP so it can search your screen and meetings from this computer. One command, plus the official LUCI skills if you want them.

OpenClaw can answer you from a chat app while you are away from the desk. It does not know what happened on this computer: the error you fixed at ten, the doc you had open, what got decided on the last call. Connect LUCI and it can look that up.

Connect over MCP

  1. Turn on screen memory and leave LUCI running.
  2. Open Settings → Agent access → Manual MCP setup and pick OpenClaw.
  3. Copy the URL and Token, then run:

The --probe check opens a real connection to LUCI. If it fails, check that LUCI is open and that you copied the current token.

OpenClaw's --header flag takes Name=value, with an equals sign. Type the header exactly as above. A header written as Authorization: Bearer … is rejected.

If OpenClaw refuses because a Gateway is running, stop it with openclaw gateway stop, run the two commands, then start it again with openclaw gateway start.

Try asking

  • "Use LUCI to tell me what I was working on this afternoon"
  • "Search my screen memory for the invoice number I had open this morning"
  • "What did we agree on in today's call with the design team?"

MCP gives OpenClaw the search tools. The official skills add the instructions: when to search, and how to distill a finished day into your Life folder.

That writes luci, distill, and the other official skills into ~/.openclaw/skills/, the shared skills folder for every OpenClaw agent on this machine. Leave off -g to install into a skills/ folder in the current directory, which OpenClaw reads when that directory is its workspace. OpenClaw watches its skills folders, so new skills load on the next turn.

The skills call a small luci command that LUCI puts on your PATH, so they too only work when OpenClaw runs on the same computer as LUCI.
