Connect Hermes Agent

Hermes Agent remembers what you tell it. It does not know what you did on this computer: the page you read before lunch, the error in the terminal, what was said on the last call. Connect LUCI and Hermes can search all of it.

Connect over MCP

1. Turn on screen memory and leave LUCI running.
2. Open Settings → Agent access → Manual MCP setup and pick Hermes.
3. Copy the snippet into ~/.hermes/config.yaml:

LUCI fills in the URL and token for you. If the file already has an mcp_servers: key, put the luci entry under it rather than adding a second one. The copy button wraps the snippet in a short prompt, so you can also paste it into Hermes and let it edit the file.

4. Restart Hermes, or type /reload-mcp in a running session.

Run hermes mcp test luci to check the connection. If it fails, check that LUCI is open and that you copied the current token.

MCP gives Hermes the search tools. The official skills add the instructions: when to search, and how to distill a finished day into your Life folder.

npx skills add Memories-ai-labs/Luci-skills -a hermes-agent -g

That writes luci, distill, and the other official skills into ~/.hermes/skills/, the folder Hermes loads skills from. An open session hears about new skills on your next message. To get them as slash commands, run /reload-skills, or start a new session with /new. Then you can call a skill by name, for example /distill-my-life.

The skills call a small luci command that LUCI puts on your PATH, so they also need Hermes on the same computer as LUCI.
