Microsoft Recall Has No Audio. That Is By Design.

You turned on Recall looking for a Rewind replacement. Search finds windows and text. It does not find "what did they say about the number."
Microsoft's own documentation is blunt: Recall does not record audio. There is no setting that adds a transcript.
TL;DR
- Recall is a screenshot timeline on recent Windows, with on-device restrictions that Microsoft documents.
- It does not capture microphone or system audio. Meetings are invisible except as pixels on screen.
- It is Windows-only. There is no Mac Recall.
- If you needed Rewind's meeting half, keep using a meeting notetaker — or one tool that does screen and audio.
Official Microsoft path
- Confirm Recall is available on your Windows build and hardware. Many machines never get it.
- Use it for "what was on screen" search. That is the job.
- For calls, use Teams' own recap, or a dedicated notetaker. Do not expect Recall to invent a transcript from screenshots of a gallery view.
There is no hidden audio toggle. Asking Microsoft support for "Recall but with the meeting" will send you to another product.
Why this bites Rewind switchers
Rewind did two jobs: a firehose of what you saw, and a record of what was said. Recall only attempted the first, and only on Windows.
A screenshot of a Zoom window is not a transcript. Speaker names, off-screen voices, and the sentence you need while sharing a deck do not become searchable text.
Stay or switch
Stay with Recall if you are Windows-only, you want OS-level snapshot search, and meetings are already covered by something else.
Do not stay if:
- You are on a Mac.
- The thing you search for is usually a spoken decision.
- You wanted one tool after Rewind died, not two.
LUCI records screen and meeting audio on Mac and Windows, on-device, with no bot in the call. LUCI vs Microsoft Recall is the 1:1. Rewind shut down is the migration timeline.
